Bankruptcy - What is Bankruptcy Administrator? As the name implies, the bankruptcy administrator oversees the administration of bankruptcy cases and monitors both the conduct and transactions of the individuals or parties involved in bankruptcy cases. The United States Bankruptcy Administrator Program (the USBA) was established by Congress in 1986. A bankruptcy administrator works under the third branch of federal government, the Judiciary. The bankruptcy administrator does not work under the federal bankruptcy court, but provides the distinct function of overseeing administrative aspects of the bankruptcy process. The bankruptcy administrator also assists the courts and may investigate alleged bankruptcy abuse or fraudulent activities relating to a bankruptcy case. The USBA may work in coordination with a number of different government agencies including the IRS, FBI and the Department of justice. Bankruptcy administrators assist the bankruptcy court and are responsible for making sure that all matters concerning bankruptcy are administered in an accurate and responsible manner. The description above is not a comprehensive legal definition but rather an informal description of the term and how it may be used in a case involving bankruptcy. |
